About Management Unplugged and myself

How to separate the wheat from the chaff? How to find common sense knowledge in a world of infinite spin? To be honest I am fed up with indivudual consultants, writers and academics claiming unique concepts, and giving them fancy names or 3-4 letter acronyms. Good for selling books, but not for enlightening managers.

My purpose is to help managers to find the useful stuff, without re-naming or re-branding, just straight off, unplugged.

I have 15 years of experience as an executive and manager in large corporations working internationally. Since 1988 I have worked as a management consultant, working with change, organizational development and management. I am an avid reader and plough through reams of stuff, learning quite a lot on the way. A few years ago I took a masters in systems thinking and modeling, which has moved me closer to academia.

Since internet took off I have wondered when “free” will come to the field of management consulting. This is it. I do not want to sell you any billable hours, so I am not attempting to tell you how clever I am and how I can solve your problems. I am an idealistic person, have spent years in the scouts, and believe in sharing. However if you buy any books linked from here, you will help towards my hefty bills at Amazon. Eventually I might try some advertising.

Enjoy!

I love your material Paul. Interesting thoughts about free managemnt consulting. Some consulting networks are offering ‘free’ material and ‘how to’ under creative commons agreements (such as the Cognitive Edge Network) which is a good start. I recently read about a restaurant in London that does not have prices on their menus, and patrons only pay what they think the meal was worth. I wonder how many consultants would be prepared to follow this business model?

    Keep up the good work!
